Maeve Binchy

Maeve Binchy was born in Dublin in 1940. Having spent some time teaching, she then became a journalist for the Irish Times for many years. She began writing fiction when she was in her early forties, and she has written fourteen novels which were best-sellers in over thirty languages. Her stories have been adapted for the stage, for television and for the cinema. She lives in Dalkey with her husband, the writer Gordon Snell.
