Noel Ó Gallchóir

Noel Ó Gallchóir is a writer and playwright who lives in Gortahork. He has been associated with the School Drama Society for many years and was associated with the National Drama Association from 1976 to 1996. He was a member of Aisteoirí Ghaoth Dobhair and Aisteoirí Gort an Choirce and is associated with Béal Binn and Éigse Ulster. He has won national awards in various competitions, including the Oireachtas, Score and drama festivals. In 2011, Noel compiled the book Trasna an Ghaoith: Scríbhinní Johnny Sheáin, a collection of the written work of his father, Seán Ó Gallchóir (1912–84). Noel has gained recognition as a playwright in recent years and has toured with the shows Between Two Heads of Anxiety (2015), Pearse’s Pen (2016) and Mary (2019). He was awarded the Stewart Parker Irish Language Writing Award in 2015.
