Máiréad Ní Mhionacháin was born at a time when Irish was still widely spoken in her native Béarra Peninsula, although this was no longer the case when she died in 1957, at the age of 95. This book contains folklore collected from her by Tadhg Ó Murchú, and dealing with a wide range of different subjects, including superstitions, herbs and remedies, festivals, and storytelling.
