Tadhg Mac Dhonnagain is no stranger to producing the goods for a young audience. Here he turns his attention to the retelling of one of the heroic episodes of the Fenian cycle, Fionn mac Cumhaill’s rise to be leader of the Fianna. The emergent independent reader with a good proficiency in Irish will find this retelling very accessible and also appreciate the illustrations of Kieron Black which complement and animate the heroic –and bloody - elements of the story.
