A collection of essays on the themes of reading and literacy in Irish, based on the proceedings of a Symposium on Reading in Irish in the Galway Gaeltacht 8-9 March 2002, organised by Róisín Ní Mhianáin, with sponsorship from The Arts Council, Údarás na Gaeltachta, Foras na Gaeilge and FIONTAR. Among the authors here are: Tina Hickey & Pól Ó Cainín; Joe Steve Ó Neachtain; Dónall P. Ó Baoill; Colmán Ó Raghallaigh; Seosamh Ó Murchú; Máire Denvir; Caoilfhionn Nic Pháidín; Gabrielle Nig Uidhir; Tadhg Ó hIfearnáin; and Nóirín Ní Ghrádaigh. She was a fulltime editor with the Irish language publishing house, Cló IarChonnachta, for many years and subsequently worked as Irish language and literature consultant to the Arts Council.
