Cúigear Chonamara is set in modern-day Connemara, and explores the lives of five characters, each of whom is trapped in a life that is draining their spirits. At times humorous, and at times poignant, this play is another feather in the cap of its esteemed writer. Cúigear Chonamara won the Foras na Gaeilge prize at the Listowel Writers’ Week in 2002, and also won the Stuart Parker Award. It is Micheál Ó Conghaile’s first play, although he has previously translated two works by Martin McDonagh: Banríon Álainn an Líonáin (The Beauty Queen of Leenane) and Ualach an Uaignis (The Lonesome West).
