Róis Ní Ógáin (1865–1947) was born in Ballymena in Co. Antrim. In 1921, she published Duanaire Gaedhilge, a collection of the most popular songs of the time. This was followed by Duanaire Gaedhilge II in 1924 and Duanaire Gaedhilge III in 1930, which included classical poetry and works from the 17th and 18th centuries. This volume is a revised edition of Duanaire Gaedhilge from 1921 with an introductory essay detailing Róis Ní Ógáin’s life and work for the Irish language.
